A Dual Purpose for Strategic PlanningWe are in the midst of strategic planning season for most organizations as executives, business owners, and leaders begin to set direction for next year and beyond. Many look upon this time with about as much anticipation as final exam week in school. Others truly do look forward to creating new objectives.

Regardless, in addition to goal setting, the strategic planning process presents a unique opportunity for employee engagement. Here are three tips on how to engage your team through strategy development:

  1. Ask them what opportunities are available for your business. They may know more about your customers, clients, or members than management.
  2. Challenge them to determine goals for their position and growth.
  3. Teach them the critical role they play in not only carrying out the strategy but also enhancing the brand and the culture.
